Rt. Rev. T.P. O'Reilly,
Bishop of Springfield
My Lord

Your favor of the 8th inst. was duly received and I beg to apologize for not having answered it before the present, but I have been ill for some time - hence the delay. With regard to the matter in question, I feel sure that if your Lordship be pleased to order a collection to be taken up in the Western part of your Diocese and the amount attained thereby given to liquidate the debt on Mt. St. V. The Community would be quite willing to refund the money should anything ever occur to oblige the Community to sell the place or discontinue the orphan asylum.

I am My Lord in sentiments of profound esteem
Most Respectfully
Sister Mary Edward, S.G.

Notes: The Bishop's initials are transposed in the original. His correct initials are P.T. O'Reilly.
