Earth Day

Cate Henderson and Sister Shirley Morris open up the greenhouse to visitors.

Sister Shirley Morris and Cate Henderson welcomed visitors to the Greenhouse to celebrate Earth Day on April 22.

Earth Day remains Canada's strongest voice in promoting a sustainable environment. Ecologist Sister Shirley Morris suggests we should acknowledge the earth every day.

Sister Shirley and organic gardener Cate Henderson invited Sisters, Associates and staff to the greenhouse on Earth Day to learn more about sustainability and environmental solutions.

The Sisters of Providence have long promoted simplicity and moderation with regard to the Earth and its bounty.

This approach to the environment hasn't gone unnoticed. In 2008, the Sisters won the Silver rating for Sustainable Living, given by the Canadian Environment Awards, a national award given to Canadians who celebrate the commitment to protect, preserve and restore the country's environment.
