Choir founder honoured

SOS Executive director Wendy McDonald (left) presented the award to Sister Marie Dundon.

Sister of Providence Marie Dundon has been honoured for her decade-long involvement with the agency SOS, seniors outreach services of Lennox and Addington county. Volunteers were recognized during a special appreciation luncheon in early May.

Sr. Marie, who has spent her life learning and sharing music and yoga, joined SOS in 1999, and immediately formed a choir called the SOS Vocal Ensemble.

“I’ve always had such a deep feeling for music. It pulsates within me. And I believe it is one of the most expressive, and significant ways of expressing emotions and ideas,” she says.

Despite the overwhelming assistance from 300 volunteers, the organization is facing financial problems. SOS has held several fundraising events to replace an old wheelchair accessible van. More fundraisers are planned for the coming months.
