Volunteers join us in many ways in our work at the motherhouse and in our witness in the Kingston area. We are deeply grateful to the support of our volunteers in their many capacities.
Students, you are welcome to do your volunteer hours with us!
Members of the community, if you have a specialty to share, please let us know.
Please note: Activities involving senior sisters is our most active volunteer area. It requires police checks as part of Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Your role as volunteer with the Activities department
Our activity program plans, implements and evaluates activities for senior Sisters. The Activities co-ordinator will interview, train and provide orientation for all new volunteers and students entering Providence Motherhouse.
Volunteers will encourge Sisters to become more independant, and promote quality and productivity in their lives. Volunteers assist Sisters to socialize, in order to prevent isolation and depression. Sisters will gain a greater level of mental well-being by spending time with a volunteer.
Through carefully developed volunteer opportunities, we endeavour to offer an experience that benefits both the Sisters and volunteers. As a volunteer, your presence in our home will help sustain our links to the community and bring new dimensions to the lives of the Sisters with whom you spend your time.
As a volunteer, you’ll support the Sisters’ rights to dignity and privacy.
The mission of the Motherhouse Activity and Volunteer Program encourages Sisters to maintain links to the community and pursue activities
