Sister Mary Augustine Dowdall

Margaret Joanna Dowdall
1866 - 1950

Sister Mary Augustine died at the House of Providence, Kingston, early on Monday morning, March 6th, after a lingering illness.

Born in Perth, Ontario, Sister entered the Providence Novitiate in Kingston on August 12, 1895. After her profession she continued her work in the class room and taught through the years in the schools of Kingston, Belleville and Trenton.

In 1947, with several other Sisters, Sister Mary Augustine had the great privilege and happiness of celebrating the Golden Jubilee of her religious profession.

Kind charitable and devoted, Sister Mary Augustine took her work seriously and, accomplishing her tasks to the best of her ability she kept before her the importance of eternal values. In this light we may judge of the grand reward awaiting this faithful soul after her long years of self-sacrifice and devotion in the vineyard of the Master.

Sister was predeceased by a niece, Sister Mary William, in this Community, and a cousin, Rev. P.S. Dowdall of the Kingston Archdiocese. May her soul rest in peace!
